Events with Rosie!

Events with Rosie!

I’ve been having a busy month in terms of literature events. No, not Hay-on-Wye - entirely different - and more exciting - places. I was at CrimeFest in Bristol, on a panel with Jane Corry, Chris Curran, and Dolores Gordon-Smith, chaired by my fellow Crime Cymru author Cathy Ace. It was titled “Darkness and Light: Are you Cosy or Noir?” and we enjoyed exploring both the darker and lighter sides of our work. Last weekend, I attended my first Bare Lit Festival, celebrating writers of colour. I chatted with author Saeida Roass and our chair Jazzmine Breary about crime fiction, authenticity, audience, and colonialism. We had an intimate, engaged audience and it was a really valuable experience for me. This week, the fun doesn’t stop! I am discussing and signing my relaunched books Binary Witness and Code Runner at Octavo’s Book Café and Bar in Cardiff tomorrow. It’s free to attend and is the perfect lead in to... The first Crime & Coffee Festival...

Binary Witness and Code Runner relaunched!

I'm so pleased with these beautiful covers for the new editions of Binary Witness and Code Runner, both relaunching on April 19th 2018. While Captcha Thief was significant for being both my first book with Crime Scene Books and my first in paperback, I'm really excited that the shiny new edition of Binary Witness will be my first audiobook, produced by Audible. Find out more at: RELAUNCH: Binary Witness and Code Runner in paperback - plus Binary Witness audiobook! - The Amy Lane Mysteries...

Join me at Sefton Libraries to talk mental health!

UPDATE: This event was unfortunately cancelled and will be rescheduled in the New Year On Friday 13th October, I am appearing at Sefton Libraries with author and newspaper columnist Ruth Hunt. For those of you who don't know Ruth, I reviewed her excellent novel "The Single Feather" and interviewed her for Freudian Script. Together we will discuss the portrayal of mental health in fiction and in the media, and how the rich experiences of mental health open doors for readers and writers, both established and brand new. We will also be taking questions and signing books! If you're in North West England and North Wales, we would love your support for this World Mental Health Day event. Both events are free, but you need to register at the links below. 11:00 - Meadows Library, Maghull - Register free 14:00 - Southport Library, Southport - Register free...

Upcoming events with Crime Cymru

With the launch of our new Welsh writing collective Crime Cymru, I am booked to appear at a number of events in the upcoming months. Which means I've had to create an Events page! All my appearances will be listed on the page, though I will also update my blog as details become available. Crime Cymru with Alis Hawkins and Rosie Claverton Cardiff Book Festival Sunday 24th September 2017 @ 17:15 Dragon Suite, The Angel Hotel Ever since Holmes and Watson the detective double-act has captured readers’ imaginations but, these days, you’re more likely to see a partnership on TV than in novels. Alis Hawkins and Rosie Claverton discuss why this might be and talk about their own detecting duos – blind coroner Harry Probert Lloyd and his solicitor’s clerk sidekick John Davies in 19th century Ceredigion and twenty-first century, agoraphobic hacker Amy Lane and her ex-con assistant, Jason Carr, in Cardiff. Tickets Crime Cymru - The Outsiders: why are all the sleuths in Welsh crime fiction from...

New website!

Welcome to the refreshed website for Rosie Claverton - novelist, screenwriter, and junior psychiatrist. While the old layout has served me well for many years, I thought it was time to direct folk more earnestly to the information they want. The Freudian Script and writing resources are easily located and there's now a News and Updates section, for info on what I'm doing with my writing life. Also, the archive was looking a little bloated after eight years of blogging! Therefore, the new main blogging sections are: - Freudian Script - all the posts on psychiatry and psychology in fiction - News and Updates - home to exciting posts like this one! - Blog Highlights - popular posts on writing and miscellany - Blog Archive - if you really want to see those screenwriting posts from 2012 (you weirdo) I also wanted to show off my gorgeous author photoshoot by Amy Davies around the environs of Cardiff - check out her work! If there's something missing, please let...
